Parallel feature 2016
Parallel was a feature film shot in the fall of 2016 for Bron Studios. The director was Isaac Ezban, who is known for his amazing science fiction work on “The Similars” and “The Incident”. His love of “The Twilight Zone” that can be seen from his approach to the Parallel script. We built a lot of mini sets and the large house attic space set on stage. Again Baron Shaver construction and Cam Boon Paint did a magnificent job with their crews. They also built the gag mirrors and the viewing portal used in the storyline. It was a fun shoot and a great cast and crew. lovely work
After stumbling upon a mirror that serves as a gateway to an infinite 'multiverse', a group of 20-somethings discover that importing knowledge gained via their alternate selves bears increasingly dangerous consequences.
The Attic set was very important as it had to play not only for the nexus between realities, but we had a 4 person cast who had to be seen and at the same time be hidden when scripted. Also the mirror had to be clearly fixed but not in the center of the room and the observation device had to have its own small wing .. so fairly high ceilings and raised side walls…
The “Future” weapon we had made for the show … I designed it and a fellow in Florida fabricated it … It was fine but I’d have made it here if we had the time.
The Mirror was the “cursed” object that allowed for the characters to be able to travel between dimensions . I designed it with the feeling that it was from another time itself. We found some great Sandscrit/Egyptian style raised wallpaper and used that to give a carved look to the “bronze”
Here is the observation device I designed to be able to view the “house” in the other dimensions before going in, making sure that there were none of their doppelgängers present ..
